Jim Robinson Field House Foxcroft Academy Dover-Foxcroft, Maine
Project Completion August 9, 2022
80,000 square feet
Foxcroft Academy needed a multi-sport space for the school and community. Taking advantage of an existing practice field, the new building was envisioned for the future in 2019. By working with Sheridan Construction, this beautiful facility was realized.
Spaces include Lobby, fitness room, office, training room, locker rooms, and field house.
The field house includes high-performance field turf with silica sand, a full-size field hockey field surface, a 1/5 mile exercise track with a jump pit, and ample area for spectators on the field and on the mezzanine above. Two divider curtains can split the field into three practice surfaces for multiple sports, including soccer, football, wrestling, and track and field.
Translucent panels are used on the south and north facades to allow a good amount of natural light for the facility’s users. This, combined with high bay LED lighting, gives the fieldhouse well-rounded illumination.
Brick is used on the main elevation to emulate the masonry seen on the Foxcroft Academy campus. Upon entering the building, the one-story entrance establishes a more human scale. The lobby features glass walls that give the entrance an expansive feel and good visibility from the office to the fitness room.
